Statewide Traffic Accident Reporting System (STARS) is a joint project between Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) for the design, creation and implementation of an automated, statewide reporting system to capture Accident, Vehicle, Person data. The system acts as the State repository of information for reporting at both a state level and for information requested by the federal government. MSHP uses this system to prepare the required Safety Statistical Analysis Reports. MoDOT uses the information to improve roadway conditions.
RKV Technologies provided the Project Overview, Analysis, Modeling, Design, Development and Testing of the system. The STARS application is a mission-critical system for the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) and is required to be the data repository for all State accidents. The STARS project captures location data enables the easy utilization of the proposed Transportation Enterprise Asset Management Suite Linear Referencing System (TEAMS LRS). The solution benefits the MSHP by improving the timeliness and accuracy of locating accidents on Missouri state and county highways.
